While the sales of individual games have never been high, the series as a whole has sold over one million copies worldwide as of April 2014. The series has received critical acclaim, being ranked alongside other horror series including the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series, and individual games have been ranked among the best survival horror games in existence. Later installments have refined the gameplay mechanics while also adding more complex narrative elements. Their main goal was to make the most frightening game experience possible. After being introduced to the PlayStation 2 hardware and after the success of the Silent Hill series, the pair decided to develop a horror series inspired by Shibata's own spiritual experiences and popular Japanese horror films of the time. The series was conceived by Makoto Shibata and Keisuke Kikuchi. The series draws on staple elements of Japanese horror, and is noted for its frequent use of female protagonists. Kunihiko Asou that can capture and pacify spirits. In each scenario, the characters involved in the present investigation use Camera Obscura, objects created by Dr. The series is set in 1980s Japan, with each entry focusing on a location beset by hostile supernatural events. Debuting in 2001 with the first entry in the series for the PlayStation 2, the series consists of five main entries. PlayStation 2, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Wii, Wii U, Xbox, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Sįatal Frame, titled Zero in Japan and Project Zero in Europe and Australia, is a Japanese survival horror video game series created, published and developed by Koei Tecmo (originally Tecmo). EU: Microsoft Game Studios, Nintendo, Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft, Wanadoo. It was a fantastic experience but this time I think I'm going to play it with the lights on ). I will definitely not mind playing this game a second time. I have heard that you get a different ending if you play the game on Hard so that is what I will be doing next. So if you can handle some serious scares this is a fantastic game and I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. The gameplay is great, the story is really good, and the characters are very relatable. I actually think this game is a lot of fun not just because its scary. Anyway I really love it, I can only play like 2 hrs max of it a day because after that I just get too freaked out. I personally love the camera system of combat as I think its a brilliant way to apply constant scares to the player by making them physically look at and confront the abominations they have to face. This makes the combat very scary and incredibly intense. So sometimes they will creep up to you and you're wondering whether you're going to be able to hit them before they attack you. Their designs are horrifying and in order to fight them effectively you must let them get near enough to you to attack you so that you can do reasonable damage to them. Of course most of all however the reason this game is scary is the Ghosts. Its atmosphere is incredibly creepy as is its story and the rumble function and music/sound effects are used amazingly well in order to scare you. I have not beaten it yet but I play it every night and I do it with the lights off and the volume turned up. That being said this game puts them all to shame in terms of sheer terror and is truly terrifying. I've played through a great deal of the resident evil series (my favorite being 4) and the Silent Hill series (my favorite in that series is 2) and all of them are scary as hell. I absolutely deplore horror movies but for some odd reason love the survival horror genre. I have to admit that I'm somewhat of a strange case.
